The ViewPlan Network installation uses a two phase setup: Network and Workstation. The Network setup installs the application files to a network drive. The Workstation setup installs the required local application files.

Network Installation—Phase One
- Insert the ViewPlan installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation should auto run. If not:
- Go to Start > Run
- Type (substituting your CD-ROM drive letter for “D”): D:\SETUP.EXE
- Click OK.
- At the Welcome screen click Next.
- The License Agreement screen displays. Click Yes
- At the Setup Type screen, choose Network and click Next
- The installation will prompt you if this is a First Time Installation or an Upgrade. Make the appropriate choice and click Next.
- You will be prompted to enter your CCH Account Number. Click Next.
- The Registration Information screen displays. Enter the 4 character Serial number and 16 character License codes in their appropriate fields. If you do not have your Serial number and License codes available, see the "How to obtain serial number and license code" section at the end of this solution.
Note: If you subscribe to a Standalone installation of ViewPlan, you will receive an invalid code message. You must subscribe to a Network version of ViewPlan to run the Network installation. If you subscribe to a Standalone version, see Answers solution ViewPlan Standalone Installation Instructions.
- Click Next.
- You will be prompted for the Destination Folder path. This is the location where the Network portion of the application will reside. You may accept the default or use the Browse button to navigate to a new path. Click Next to continue.
Important: Users will need Modify, Read, Execute, Write permissions to the CCH ViewPlan folder and all data subfolders.
- The View Readme file window displays. Choose whether or not to View What’s New With This Release and click Next.
- After the Setup complete dialog box displays and reminds you to run the Workstation setup. Click OK.
- The InstallShield Wizard Complete window displays. Click Finish.
- Move to the workstation(s) to begin Phase Two installations.
Workstation Installation—Phase Two
Important
ViewPlan requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.5 or higher. The ViewPlan workstation installation will automatically install MDAC if it finds a version older than 2.5. You may be prompted to reboot after installing MDAC. The ViewPlan installation should continue automatically after reboot. If the install does not continue, re-run the ViewPlan Workstation installation, beginning at Step 1 below.
- At the workstation, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to the location where the ViewPlan Network (Phase One) installation resides.
- Open the Setup folder and double-click Setup.exe
- At the Welcome screen, click Next.
- The License Agreement screen displays. Click Yes to continue.
- You will be prompted for the Destination Folder path. This is the location where the Workstation (local) portion of the application will reside. You may accept the default or use the Browse button to navigate to a new path. Click Next to continue.
- At the Select Program Folder, you may accept the default, choose an existing folder, or enter a new folder name. Once you have made your choice, click Next.
- After the ViewPlan installation is complete, click Finish.
How to obtain serial number and license code
To obtain your serial number and license code, you can use the Unlock Codes self-service tool located on our My Account support site. Just sign in to My Account, click on Manage Accounts then select Unlock Codes from the "Select an Action" menu on the right-hand side of the screen. If you are new to My Account, you will need to register prior to using My Account for the first time.
