How is data synchronized from Active Directory to the CCH Axcess?

There are three ways Active Directory can synchronize with CCH Axcess:

  • Scheduled import/synchronization: Updates all linked users and creates new users for staff defined in the Active Directory group. Depending on the size of your firm, synchronization should be scheduled to occur at least once each day. Larger firms, with a more active list of users, may want to perform this function more often in order to keep the CCH Axcess application current with changes in Active Directory.
  • Automatic synchronization: Updates only linked users. Will be performed when Active Directory functionality is configured or modified.
  • Manual import: Should be performed when there are new Active Directory users that need to be created in the CCH Axcess application.

Notes:

  • New firms and firms using the CCH Axcess or Federation Services login method can no longer select to use the Active Directory® method as this method will be phased out in the future. Firms who are already set up to use Active Directory® are not impacted by this change.
  • Firms that prefer to use Active Directory authentication services can select the Federation Services method. For more information, see our introduction to Federation Services authentication.
