How do I configure CCH eSign for CCH Axcess Tax?

In order to use CCH® eSign, you need to first set up your eSign account. The initial set up of CCH eSign is done in CCH Axcess to establish the integration that is used for Form 8879 and state e-file signature authorization forms.

Once you have set up your eSign account, you can enable eSign in the return configuration set. This step is optional.

You can also enable or disable eSign on a return-by-return basis. For more information, go to our article on selecting eSign in a return and exporting the return to eSign.

To set up your CCH eSign account, do the following (required):

  1. Obtain your eSign license by contacting your Sales representative.
    • Once the permission key is activated for your account, a new eSign displays in your firm settings.
    • The license is free; however, transactions fees are billed monthly based on usage.
  2. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
  3. Click eSign on the navigation panel.
  4. Click Set up eSign Account.
    • If an eSign account exists, it will automatically link to CCH Axcess; otherwise, continue to step 5.
  5. Enter the username for the account, which is the administrator's e-mail address.
  6. Enter the administrator's first and last names.
  7. Click Create. The administrator user is also created.

Note: The administrator receives an e-mail with credentials to your CCH eSign account.

To enable eSign in the return configuration set, do the following (optional):

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Return configuration sets under Tax.
  2. Expand a return configuration set on the navigation panel.
  3. Select Electronic Filing Options1040/Individual on the navigation panel.
  4. We recommend you select both of the following options:
    • Electronically sign authorization form(s). Electronically file authorization forms with a digital signature for federal and qualifying states.
    • Enable eSign if state returns do not qualify. Electronically file authorization forms with a digital signature for federal and qualifying states when a state that does not qualify for eSign exists in the return.
  5. Click Save.
