How do I configure CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan Administrator services to have access to another server's folders?

By default, CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan requires no modifications of the Services.
  • If you want to use an Import, Archive or Export folder on another computer in the Windows Domain (or in the Windows Workgroup, if not in a Domain), two services must be modified.
  • A service accessing a file or folder on another server must be set to run as a Domain Administrator account or a service account or equivalent (such as a local user on the remote system, if in a Workgroup), allowing the service to authenticate to the remote server.
    • Any account accessing another server must also have access to the ProgramData folder on the Scan Administrator machine.
  • The two services you must modify are CCH ProSystem fx Scan Folder Watch and CCH ProSystem fx Scan Workflow.
    • The Workflow service on the CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan Administrator system must be able to interact with files in C:\ProgramData\CCH ProSystemfxScan, so ensure sure the account selected is granted access to that location as well; this is usually granted by default.
To configure CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan to monitor folders on another computer:
  1. Open the Microsoft® Windows® services on the Scan Administrator computer.
  2. Right-click either of the two services, then click Properties.
  3. Click the Log On tab.
  4. Select This account.
  5. Enter the account name and password.
    • Enter the service account name in either DOMAIN\Account or Account@DOMAIN format.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Right-click the service and click Restart.
  8. Repeat for the other of the two services.
    • The credentials changes will not take effect until the service is stopped and started again.
    • Only the CCH ProSystem fx Scan Folder Watch and CCH ProSystem fx Scan Workflow services should be modified because modifying other any other services will usually cause the CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan system to halt processing.
    • All the CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan services are uninstalled and reinstalled during application updates, requiring re-entry of the credentials after each major (e.g., 14.1 to 15.0, 15.0 to 15.1, etc.) update.
    • A logon error indicates either incorrect username or password or both, and is not a CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan error.
    • All other "CCH ProSystem fx Scan" services must NOT use these credentials; they must not be modified from their default configuration.
