Qualifying Extensions for Electronic Filing - [Return]
In order to electronically file an extension or return, the disqualifying diagnostic for the entity being filed will need to be cleared first. There are two types of electronic filing diagnostics.
- Severity code 5 disqualifying diagnostics (e.g. - 50001) must be cleared to upload an extension from Tax.
- Severity code 4 disqualifying diagnostics (e.g. - 40001) apply to the electronic filing of the return only, and do not need to be cleared to electronically file the extension.

e-File Batch Extension Processing in Production Processing Use the options to select extensions for batch e-filing - [Return]
Select to e-file one of the following:
- Extensions - Electronically file federal and/or state extensions for Individual, Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, Exempt Organization, and Fiduciary returns. When checked, you can select to electronically file Federal and/or State extensions. Before the process is completed, you will have the option to print what you are e-filing.
- Returns should be proforma'd and created from proforma. No balance due will be calculated. The extension doesn't have to be included in the prior year return nor e-Filing of extension has to be turned on in Office Manager or the return to be included in batch e-File extensions.
- At the end of the batch processing if a return is in need of a correction, a message will be given in the batch log report. These returns will be considered disqualified. You may delete the current year return and change the information in the prior year return and client profile and reprocess the proforma for those returns. You can also open the current year return and correct the information and export the extension through tax preparation on a return by return basis.
- Specialized State Extensions (AL). Electronically file specialized state extensions for Alabama. This feature includes opening the Alabama Web site for filing the extensions. You also have the option to print what you are e-filing.
