How do I change my email password for CCH® Site Builder?

The web address to change your email system password depends upon how your email account was configured.

If you began CCH email service before the beginning of June 2016, use
  • [ your domain ].postoffice.net
  • For example, if your domain is "thebestcpas.com", your login address will be "thebestcpas.postoffice.net" (without the .COM or .NET, etc.)
If you began CCH email service after the end of May 2016 use
  • mail.[ your domain ]
  • For example, if your domain name is "thebestcpas.com", your login address will be "mail.thebestcpas.com"
If you bookmark either of the above addresses, you log out of the site, and then use the bookmark to return to the page, you'll be taken to https://webmail.postoffice.net/tpl/Door/Login?Domain=[YourFullDomain]
  • For example, if your login address "thebestcpas.postoffice.net" your bookmark will take you to https://webmail.postoffice.net/tpl/Door/Login?Domain=thebestcpas.com

To reset a user’s password, do the following:
  1. Go to the address for the login page as described above.
  2. Enter full email address as the Username.
  3. Enter Current Password.
  4. Enter New Password.
  5. Enter Verify New Password.
  6. Click Login.
  7. Logout.
  8. Update the password that your email program uses to retrieve email

Additional Information

The CCH Site Builder email system is designed to expire each user's password after 365 days, and each user will receive an email notification that the user should login within 14 days. Upon entering the current password, the user will be prompted to immediately change the current password. After changing the password, the user won't be prompted again until 14 days prior to the next annual password change.

If the user doesn't change the password during this 14-day annual notification period and is locked, or if the firm's mail administrator needs to change the user's password for other reasons the postmaster@[yourdomain] user (or a user designated as an administrator) can reset passwords.

The administrator can choose to make the new password temporary or permanent by using the "Require user to reset password on next login" box. If the option is “temporary,” the user will always be prompted to change their password to a new unused password the next time they login. But if the user is within their annual 14-day password change period and hasn’t yet changed the password, the user will still have to change their password regardless what option the administrator chooses. If the administrator chooses the “permanent” at a time other than the annual notification period, the user won’t be prompted to change their password again until 14 days from the new annual notification period.
