How do I use Project Pools on the Dashboard in CCH Axcess™?

The Project Pools pane allows you to view lists of unassigned projects that you can self-assign. These lists, which are defined by the firm, are referred to as a pool. Your firm might also refer to pools as crates, bins, drawers, or shelves. The list of projects is shown in first in, first out (FIFO) order, per the last status change.

To view the list of projects in a pool, first add the Project Pools pane to the Dashboard, if it is not already displayed. See Adding, Moving, or Removing Panes for more information on adding panes. Then, select a pool of projects on the top left corner of the pane.

Note: Use the Sort by options and the search feature above the grid and to the right to locate a specific project in the list. The settings you choose here are retained for your current session only.

Once you have selected a pool, you can perform the following tasks in the pool list:

  • Assign yourself to a project. You must have functional rights to assign yourself projects from a pool.
    1. Click Assign to me for a project in the list.
    2. If your firm uses roles and you have functional rights, you can select a role to assign to yourself from the list.
    • Note: If a role is already assigned to another staff, you have the option to assign yourself to the role as an additional assignee.
  1. Click Assign.

  • Open the route sheet for a project.
    1. On the far right side of the project list, click the menu button User-added image for a project.
    2. Select Open Route Sheet.

  • Open a project. You must have functional rights to perform this task.
    1. On the far right side of the project list, click the menu button User-added image for a project.
    2. Select Open Project.
  • Note: The project opens in read-only mode if you do not have Edit project permissions.

  • Update the status and change the file holder assignment for a project. You must have Edit project functional rights to perform this task.
    1. On the far right side of the project list, click the menu button User-added image for a project.
    2. Select Update Status or File Holder.
    3. Select the new project status.
    4. If needed, select a different file holder. You can select to keep the project in the pool, assign it to yourself, or, if you have necessary permissions, assign it to a different staff member.
    5. Click Update Status to save your changes.
