Error: "Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action," when installing CCH ProSystem fx Engagement.
This error is caused by an unregistered Visual Basic DLL on the system.
To register this DLL complete the following:
Verify that "VBScript.dll" exists on the Workstation.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to the "C:\Windows\System32" folder.
- The "VBScript.dll" should exist in this location.
Register the "DLL."
- Click Start > Run.
- Alternatively, open a CMD prompt.
- In the Run dialog, or Command Prompt:
- Type regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\VBScript.dll.
- Click OK or press ENTER.
- A dialog will appear, "DllRegisterServer in VBScript.dll succeeded."
If registering the dll produces the error code "0x80004005" complete the following:
- Click Start.
- Click Search.
- Open the Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt icon.
- Click Run as Administrator.
- In the command prompt:
- Type regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\VBScript.dll.
- Press ENTER.
- A dialog will appear, "DllRegisterServer in VBScript.dll succeeded."
