Why am I getting duplicate entries after importing with Dynalink?

Dynalinking to an open return for the first time in that tax year can cause details to duplicate (Other Income, Other Deductions, etc). This can also affect descriptions on some forms within Tax. To resolve this issue, perform one of the following:

  1. Import into a Pro forma return.
    • If using CCH Access Tax, the only resolution is to import into an open return.
    • Quiklink will match the descriptions, but the prior year's comparative numbers for open line items will be lost.
  2. Select Remove existing data when creating the Dynalink to an opened return.
    • This can be performed by browsing to File > Import > Dynalink > Options > Existing Returns in Tax.
    • Selecting this option will remove any information in the sections of the return that Engagement links to.
    • Repeater fields are removed from the return for detail items, such as Other Deductions.
    • There is only one line for each description.
    • All data in the current return is removed for detail (repeater) fields.
    • Manually keyed in data for the current year return for the detail fields will be removed on Dynalink.
  3. Select Keep Existing data when creating the Dynalink to an opened return.
    • This can be performed by browsing to File > Import > Dynalink > Options > Existing Returns in Tax.
    • Manually keyed in data in the current return is retained.
    • Doubled repeater (descriptions) fields are present after the Dynalink for detail items, such as Other Deductions.
    • The description for each detail item could be listed twice, once with the prior year amount and once with the current year amount.
  4. If using Rental, Farm or Sch C then follow the below article:
