If the issue only occurs in a specific year in the tax program, it may originate from the "smagicYY.dll" file for that year.

• YY = a two digit year.

To resolve, complete the following: 

1. Press WINDOWS + R to open a run line.
2. Type ?:\wfx32 and press ENTER.
• Where ? is the location of the installation of CCH ProSystem fx Tax.
3. Locate the "SmagicYY.dll" for the affected year.
4. Right-click on it and click Rename.
5. Change the name to oldSmagicYY.dll.
6. Run a Setup Programs installation for the installation image for the affected tax year.

• If a Setup Programs was run from a prior year, run an installation using the most current year's version.
