What states do not allow electronic filing when Form 1040NR is present in a 1040 return in CCH Axcess™ Tax or CCH® ProSystem fx® Tax?

Some states in a 1040 are not allowed to be filed as "stand alone" states. This means that they require a copy of the Federal Form 1040 to accompany them. Being that a 1040NR is not Form 1040, states that require Form 1040 will not be allowed to electronically file when a 1040NR is present.

The following states cannot be e-filed when a 1040NR is present:
  • Alabama (AL)
  • Arkansas (AR)
  • Delaware (DE)
  • District of Columbia (DC)
  • Georgia (GA)
  • Kansas (KS)
  • Nebraska (NE)
  • North Dakota (ND)
  • Ohio (OH)
  • Oklahoma (OK)
  • West Virginia (WV)
Notes:
  • An caution diagnostic is issued if a 1040NR is present and any of the above states are selected for electronic filing. See our article regarding diagnostic 20652.
