How do I attach a PDF document to an electronically filed return using interview forms in CCH® ProSystem fx ®Tax?
The video below shows how to attach a PDF file to an electronically filed return using interview forms in CCH® ProSystem fx ®Tax.
Enter the PDF Code and Name
- Go to Federal Interview Form EF-PDF-1 - Electronic Filing PDF Attachments.
- In Box 30 - PDF Code, use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) to select the appropriate federal or state attachment code.
- In Box 31 - PDF File Name, use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) to browse out and attach the PDF document.
- In Box 32 - Attachment Name, enter the IRS or DOL attachment name.
- Note: This box will automatically populate based on the code entered in Box 30 - PDF Code.
- Calculate the return.
Enter Other PDF (no code available) in 1040
- Go to Federal Interview Form EF-PDF-1 - Electronic Filing PDF Attachments.
- In Box 30 - PDF Code, remove any entry in this box.
- In Box 31 - PDF File Name, use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) to browse out and attach the PDF document.
- In Box 32 - Attachment Name, enter the IRS attachment name.
- In Box 33 - FS Code, enter the appropriate Federal or State code.
- In Box 34 - State, use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) to select the appropriate state code.
- Calculate the return.
Enter Other PDF (no code available) in 1120, 1120S, 1065 and 1041
Note: Other attachments are not available for 990 returns without prior approval.
- Go to Federal Interview Form EF-PDF-1 - Electronic Filing PDF Attachments.
- In Box 140 (Box 150 in 1065) - PDF Path/File Name, use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) to browse out and attach the PDF document.
- In Box 141 (Box 151 in 1065) - IRS Attachment Name, enter the IRS attachment name.
- Calculate the return.
