How do I edit my CCH ProSystem fx Site Builder site's pages?

You can change certain properties of your site's pages using the Edit Pages page. This page is also where you can edit the introductory text that displays at the top of standard pages. You can add keywords and descriptions that will be used for search engine optimization as well. The Edit Pages page is also where you add content for custom pages you may have created.

Tip: Set up your site and preview it prior to editing pages. Be sure to become familiar with what your site looks like and make notes of what you wish to change before editing the structure of your site.

Note: The main content for most of Site Builder's standard pages is generated by the corresponding areas of the Site Builder Wizard. For example, the contact list on your site's Contact Us page comes from information you enter on the Site Builder Firm Info > Contacts page. Tell me more about the content on a standard page and where the content is edited.

To manage the properties of an individual page, do the following:

  1. Log in to your CCH ProSystem fx Site Builder account at cchwebsites.com.
  2. Click Site Design > Edit Pages on the menu bar. A list of the pages on your site and your site hierarchy displays in the Pages pane on the left side of the screen. The Page Content pane on the right displays information about the page that is selected in the left pane.
  3. Select the page that you want to edit information for in the Pages pane.
  4. Edit the information in the Page Content pane as needed. The information you can edit is as follows:
    • Page name. The page name displays in your site's menu bar, as well as at the top of the actual page. This property cannot be edited for the event calendar and life cycle events pages.
    • File name. The file name appears after the domain name in the URL that displays when you visit the page. For example, if the URL for the page is "http://samplesite.com/newsletters.htm," the domain name is "samplesite.com" and the file name is "newsletters.com." This property cannot be edited for the event calendar and life cycle events pages.
    • Title. The title displays in the browser title bar. This property cannot be edited for the event calendar and life cycle events pages.
    • Page text. This text is in the large text box at the bottom of the window. Each of the standard pages includes default page text. You can keep this text, edit it, or delete it. For custom pages, you must enter the needed content, otherwise the page will be blank.
  5. Format the page text as needed. See Formatting Text for more information.
  6. Click the down arrow in the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) header. The section will expand so you can add keywords and descriptions that will make your page more visible in web searches. See About Search Engine Optimization for more information.
  7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 until you have edited all pages as needed.
  8. Click Accept to save your changes.
  9. Click Preview to see what your site will look like when your changes are applied. The preview opens in a different browser tab or window.
  10. Click Publish to immediately update your website, or click Next to continue to the next page.

Note:  Changes made in CCH ProSystem fx Site Builder are not applied to your website until you Publish the updates.
