Error: "Illegal characters in path" when checking out a file in CCH Axcess™ or CCH ProSystem fx® Document

This is usually caused by an invalid character in the Client ID or Client Sort Field, which is used to create a folder on your local Windows system; certain characters can't be used in file or folder names by Microsoft Windows. This error can be resolved by editing the affected client's profile, then checking out the file.

CCH Axcess™

  1. Launch CCH Axcess™ Dashboard > Application Links > Clients > Client Manager
  2. Open the specific client for editing
