How do I download and install the latest update for CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager?

Updates for CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager are periodically released. Downloaded updates are applied to the Engagement or Workpaper Manager version that you currently have installed. The updates on the CCH support site does not upgrade you to a newer annual release version.

Warnings!

  • Before applying any updates or changes be sure to backup all data from the local file rooms and the central file room before applying.
  • When downloading through CCH Software Delivery Manager, it is important that you download and install the correct version that matches to your current installation of Engagement or Workpaper Manager.  If the incorrect version is installed or upgraded then this could impact the data on server or local machines.
  • If downloaded from the support site, the update will fail to install if you are not already on the same version of the software as the update.
  • The update should be ran on all modules listed: Workpaper Management, Terminal Server Client, Terminal Server Database, and Administrator installations.
If updating to version 2019.3.1 or higher the process has changed.  Please see our article for the updated procedure.:

To install the latest update for Engagement or Workpaper Manager v2018 to an existing installation, do the following steps listed below:

  3. Click Download file, next to the update that you want to install.
  4. Three options for the download are given. The first option is used for most installations. Click Download file, next to the first option.
    • Note: The second and third options are provided for IT and advanced users to push the update install to all computers in an office. If you would like to use one of these options, please contact your IT dept, or local network administrator about setting up the installation.
  5. Depending on your browser options, you may receive the option to save the file or run it. Click Save File, or Save As
  6. After the download completes, browse to the file location it was saved to in the previous step, right-click on the file and choose Run as Administrator
    • Notes:
      • The default save location for most browsers is C:\Users\[username]\Downloads.
      • It recommended to also copy the downloaded file to the shared Engagement or Workpaper Manager CD image folder on the server, for easy access to all users.
        • The shared path is usually \\[server name]\Engagement CD Image, or \\[server name]\Workpaper Manager CD Image.
        • Do not copy the Engagement CD image folder for installs of the 2019 and newer versions as those installers automatically remove the existing folder and copy the new files over when upgrading the Admin module.
  7. Click Next through the Welcome window.
  8. Click Install
  9. When the installation has completed you will get a message saying that the installation was successful. Click OK
Note: When an update for a version has been released, the software downloads in CCH® Software Delivery Manager are updated as well to include the most recent versions of the software.
