​The video below shows how to reset the Admin password in TaxWise® 2016.



The steps listed in this article are for the desktop version of TaxWise 2016. Prior year versions of the desktop software use a different mechanism to reset the Admin password.

1. Download the attached file TW2016PWReset.zip, and save it somewhere you can easily find on your computer.
2. Open the ZIP.
3. Copy and paste TW2016PWReset.exe into ?:\UTS16 (where ? is the drive letter on which TaxWise is installed).
4. Once it is in the UTS16 folder, double-click on the file. The window below displays.

4. In this window, enter the requested information in the required fields.
5. ​​Your registration code is found on the fulfillment slip that was shipped with the program or in the TaxWise Solution Center (select the Download tab, and then click the TaxWise Software link on the left menu bar).
6. After entering all of the required fields, click Reset Admin Password.
7. Close the tool.
8. Open TaxWise 2016. You should now be prompted to enter a new Admin password once you click the login button.

Note: If you are logged in as a user other than Admin and click Change User to switch to Admin, the steps described above will not work. Close TaxWise and start over with the initial Login screen. If you are locked out, the steps above will unlock the Admin user.

Additional Information 

• The information above is related to the Admin user name in the TaxWise Desktop software. The Admin user for the Support Site is completely unrelated and can have different passwords.

1. Please go to the TaxWise Solutions Center (You do not need to log in to access the Password Center)
