Why am I being prompted to enter a phone number when logging into CCH Axcess™ Portal or CCH® Client Axcess?
As of April 29th, 2-step verification will be automatically implemented for all versions of Portal. 2-step verification uses a one-time passcode for authentication purposes when creating new portal or client accounts, or resetting your password. This code is sent to your email address or the phone number in your user profile, which means it's important to have at least one phone number in your user profile.
For this reason, upon logging into Portal or Client Axcess after April 29th, you will receive a prompt to add your phone number. If you choose to skip this step, you will be prompted to enter your phone number the next time you log in, and each time after that.
