Objectives

Create a user for Data Axcess Utility.

Procedure

You may run Data Axcess Utility (DAU) with a user that is not the default administrator. As a security best practice, we recommend the following:
  1. Create a new security group for DAU. In this security group, navigate to Functional rights > Reports > Data Axcess. In the row for Request and Download grant the edit permission.
  2. Create a new staff that is exclusively for DAU with: 
    • A name that indicates it is dedicated to this unattended process.
    • Email addresses (or distribution list) for IT staff that need to manage this user.
    • Phone numbers of those who will login with this user. This is important for CCH Axcess multi-factor authentication. The IRS will soon not allow 2-step verification via email.
    • Assignment to the security group described above.
  3. Log in to CCH Axcess Dashboard - Login with the new user, accept the terms of use, set security questions and answers, and change the password.
  4. Open Data Axcess Utility Manager - Update the username and password.
  5. Create a reminder - Create a calendar reminder or other procedure to update the password before it expires.
Note: The DAU user account does not need any product licenses.
