Objectives

Identify the CCH Axcess login options that can be used with Data Axcess Utility.

Environment

  • CCH Axcess
  • CCH Axcess Data Axcess Utility
  • CCH Axcess Workstream
  • CCH Axcess Practice

Details

There are three login modes that may appear in your firm settings login options:
  • CCH Axcess (username and password)
  • Active Directory
  • Federation Services

Current Compatibility

Data Axcess Utility is compatible with CCH Axcess login mode and Federation Services passive with IDAAS.

Retired Compatibility

Past versions of Data Axcess Utility were also compatible with some older Federation Services configurations using a system environment variable on the computer where Data Axcess Utility is installed. Support for this configuration ends December 1, 2022.

Use the following steps to determine if you are using this configuration:
  1. View the system environment variables on the computer where Data Axcess Utility is installed. The steps to manage environment variables vary by Windows version and edition. Consult your IT department if necessary.
  2. Look for a variable with the name DAUAUTH and the value legacy. If this variable is present, DAU will not function properly after December 1, 2022.
If the DAUAUTH variable is present, you must complete the following steps:
  1. Verify that your CCH Axcess firm configuration is included in the Current Compatibility section above. If necessary, upgrade to Federation Services passive with IDAAS. Please see our guide, Planning for changes to CCH Axcess Login Mode
  2. Delete the environment variable DAUAUTH.
  3. Reboot the computer.
  4. Reinstall Data Axcess Utility as described in our guide, How do I update the Data Axcess Utility?
