Symptoms

When clicking Print (or the Print icon) from invoice preview, the print options box never comes up.

Environment

CCH Axcess™ Practice
CCH Axcess™
Adobe® Acrobat®
Adobe® Reader®
Windows 10 v2004 and v20H2

Cause

An issue has been identified with the Windows 10 version 2004 and 20H2 update that is preventing Adobe® from opening the print dialog window.

Resolution

Adobe and Microsoft are working toward a permanent resolution.

Current Workaround Options:

1. Roll Windows back to a prior version until the issue is corrected. This should be performed by your IT technician.
  • Note: This option is only available for 10 days after the 2004 or 20H2 update is installed.
  • Note: You may need to uninstall/reinstall Adobe Acrobat after rolling back the Windows 10 version 2004 / 20H2 update.
2. Run Axcess in 32bit mode and turn off Adobe's Enable Protected Mode at Startup option.

Run Axcess in 32bit mode:
  • Download the CCH™ Axcess - 32bit Mode batch file attached to this article to a location on the machine which Axcess is installed (can be a server or a workstation).
  • Close completely out of CCH Axcess
  • Locate and right click on the downloaded .bat file, then click Run as Administrator.
    • Note: The above process will need to be repeated after each update or reinstall of CCH Axcess™, until the issue is permanently resolved. So, make sure you save the file to a convenient location.
Turn off Adobe's Enable Protected mode at Startup option:
  • Open Adobe Acrobat AND/OR Reader (If both are installed, you must change both)
  • Click on the Edit drop down menu
  • Click on Preferences
  • Select the Security (Enhanced) section on the left
  • Uncheck Enabled Protected Mode at Startup

3. Save the invoice to your computer by clicking the Save a Copy icon when previewing and then open the PDF file outside of Axcess and Print it.

4. Email the invoice to yourself and when the email is received, open the attached invoice PDF and print it.
