Symptoms

Data is not rolling forward correctly when using a template and either the "Override Pro Forma data with tax template data" option from the RCS or the "Use template data instead of roll forward data" option.

Environment

CCH Axcess™ Tax
Roll Forward

Cause

  1. RCS Option:
    • “Override Pro Forma data with tax template data” - When both the template and Pro Forma contain data in the same field, the template data would be used.
  2. Return Manager Option:
    • “Use template data instead of roll forward data”. This option will override any settings selected in the Return Configuration Set and force the system to override the Pro Forma data with the tax template data. When both the template and the Pro Forma contain data in the same field, the template data would be used.

Resolution

An issue has been identified where data is not rolling forward correctly when using a template combined with either the "Override Pro Forma data with tax template data" option from the RCS or the "Use template data instead of roll forward data" option during roll forward. At this time, neither of those two options should be used when rolling forward returns in CCH Axcess Tax. We apologize for the inconvenience this issue causes and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue.

Below are the available options for rolling forward returns and using return templates. Please note the two items that should not be used until the issue is resolved.

RCS Options

  1. “Override tax template data with Pro Forma data (default)” - When both the template and the Pro Forma contain information in the same field, the Pro Forma data would be used.
  2. “Override Pro Forma data with tax template data” - When both the template and Pro Forma contain data in the same field, the template data would be used.
    • This option should not be used until this issue is resolved.
  3. “Merge Pro Forma data with tax template data” - When fields can only have one occurrence, for example, Return Options > Print Commas, the default is to use Pro Forma data instead of the template data. Conversely, for fields that can have more than one occurrence, for example, Interest Income (grid input), the system will merge the data from both the Pro Forma and the template when both have data present.

Return Manager options

  1. “Use template data instead of roll forward data” - Will override any of the settings selected in the Return Configuration Set (above) and force the system to override the Pro Forma data with the tax template data. When both the template and the Pro Forma contain data in the same field, the template data would be used.
    • This option should not be used until this issue is resolved.
