Objectives

Create a template spreadsheet file for the purpose of importing Schedule K-2 data from information compiled in a .xlxs file.

Environment

  • CCH® ProSystem fx® Tax
  • Partnership - 1065
  • S Corporation - 1120S

Procedure

K-2 Import Export became available with release 2021.04010
  1. Save the return: File > Save.
  2. Go to File > Export > K-2/K-3 Data to Spreadsheet.
  3. Select Browse to designate a Path and file name.
    • Default location wfx32\client\K-2 Import and Export
  4. Select Finish.
  5. Open Windows browser and navigate to the K-2 export file.
  6. Open the file created and populate with applicable information.
  7. Save and Close the K-2 Excel file.
  8. In the return, go to File > Import > K-2/K-3 Data from Spreadsheet.
  9. Select Browse to navigate to the K-2 Excel file.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Select from the following two options:
    • Match and update existing input.
      • This option matches the imported data to existing input data in the return. Revised spreadsheet figures will carry to the return, but blank spreadsheet fields will not overwrite existing data in the return.
    • Delete applicable input, replacing with imported data.
      • This option deletes any existing input data, including depreciation, in the return. Imported spreadsheet data, including blanks, will completely replace existing data on these forms.
  12. Select Finish.
  13. A Pop-up window "Spreadsheet K-2/K-3 Import Validation Log" will appear asking to Continue Import, Cancel Import and allow to print or copy the text to clipboard.
  14. Select Continue Import.
  15. Select OK.
  16. Review information imported into the return.
  17. Calculate return.

Note

  • Step 11 option above mentions it will delete depreciation data. However, this is general text with the Import from Spreadsheet Wizard, not relevant to Schedule K-2/K-3 Import from Spreadsheet.
