How do I install CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager on a Terminal Server, Citrix Server, or Golden Image?
Step 1: Install Terminal Services Database
Keep the following in mind when installing Terminal Services Database:
- The Terminal Server Database module should not be installed on the Terminal Server or Citrix Server that is running Terminal Services Client.
- The Terminal Services Database should be installed to a static location that is accessible for all of the load balanced servers. This location should be a dedicated Microsoft® Windows Server with enough space to store data being created in the Terminal Services Client module.
- Do not install the Terminal Server Database to a system using a golden image as doing so will cause data loss in the Local File Room each time the machine is restarted.
- The Terminal Server Database module is primarily installed on the same server where the Engagement Administrator module or Workpaper Manager Administrator module is installed on.
- Alternatively, the Terminal Server Database can be installed on a second separate database server as long there is also an installation of Microsoft® SQL Server® present.
- For robust environments (for example, more than 40 users), Microsoft® SQL Server® Standard Edition or Microsoft® SQL Server® Enterprise Edition are recommended.
- Complete all tasks in the Pre-Installation Checklist.
- Ensure that no one is accessing the server where the Terminal Services Database is being installed.
- Open the Engagement or Workpaper Manager install image or navigate to the CD Image on the server by pressing Windows Key + R and type \\{servername or IP}\Engagement CD Image. Then press Enter.
- Right click on PfxEngSetup.exe, and select Run as Administrator.

- If there is no Engagement or Workpaper Manager program currently installed, the License Agreement will display. Read the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. The Custom Setup window displays.

- Click the down arrow next to the red X box, and change it to a gray box This feature will be installed to select Terminal Services Database.
- If this is the same server as the Admin Server, and the Admin module is already installed, make sure that the Administrator selection is left as a gray box and do not change it.
- You may choose This feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive to install the module and all templates, sample binders, etc.
- Click Next. The Ready to Install dialog displays.
