How do I clear the cache for CCH Axcess™ products or for CCH® ProSystem fx® Document?

If you do not use Active Directory Integration or Active Director Federated Services, make sure that you know your username and password.

There might be times when your application data should be refreshed by renaming or deleting your AppData folders. This is known as clearing the cache. The deleted folders will be recreated when you log back in to the program. Data in the AppData folders support our applications and only apply to a single user for a given machine. The information in these locations does not include tax return, billing, or other data that is produced by application functions, such as Print and Export.

In some cases, you may need only to partially delete items from a single folder to resolve a display issue in the CCH® ProSystem fx® Document or CCH Axcess™ Document interface (e.g., if a client doesn't appear in the client search box of CCH® ProSystem fx® Document or CCH Axcess™ Document). If possible, delete as little of the cache as necessary to resolve an issue. To partially delete a cache, do the following:
  1. Close all CCH® ProSystem fx® Document or CCH Axcess™ programs, including the Dashboard.
  2. Close all open instances of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  3. Open Windows Task Manager and view the Processes or Details tab's processes from all users.
    • Close all Outlook, Winword, Excel and Adobe processes.
  4. Type %appdata% in the address bar for Windows Explorer. This will open the logged-in user's Roaming folders.
  5. Open the Document folder.
  6. Delete the folder(s) named with numbers and letters. These folders are uniquely named and their names will always be different.

  2. Close all open instances of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  3. Open Windows Task Manager and view the Processes or Details tab's processes from all users.

  4. Type %appdata% in the address bar for Windows Explorer. This will open the logged-in user's Roaming folders, from which you can also navigate to the Local cache folders. Delete or rename the following folders:
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\IsolatedStorage
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\WK
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Document (only available if you license Document)
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\IsolatedStorage
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\WK
