How do I update the modules and software in TaxWise®?

Update From the TaxWise Solution Center

The video below shows how to locate, download, and install available program, state, and bank updates using the TaxWise® Solution Center.


 
  1. Go to the TaxWise Solution Center website.
  2. Under Preparer Solutions, click Product Updates.
  3. Log in with your Client ID, User Name, and Password.
  4. Click on Program Updates, State Updates, or Bank Updates to view the latest update.  
Alternatively, you can:
  1. Go to the TaxWise Solution Center website.
  2. Log in with your Client ID, User Name, and Password.
  3. Click the Downloads dropdown.
  4. Click on Program Updates, State Updates, or Bank Updates to view the latest update.
  • Note: For prior years, select the tax year in the Please select a year to download: drop-down list.
  1. Click the Download icon to download the update or click the Release Notes icon to view the release notes.
  2. Save the module to your Windows desktop (or other location).
  3. Once the module is downloaded, close TaxWise completely on all workstations.
  4. Navigate to the location where you chose to save the file and double-click to install the update or module.


Update From Within TaxWise

Within TaxWise you can install program updates or module updates.


TaxWise Program Updates

The following video explains how to download and install program updates for TaxWise® from within the program itself.​

  1. Open TaxWise and log in as the Admin user.
  2. Go to Communications > Get Program Updates.
  3. In the Program Update window, click OK.
  4. When the download is complete, click OK.
  5. Close and restart TaxWise to apply the update.
  6. In the Update Found window, click Yes to continue with the update process.
  7. Click OK when the update is complete.
 

TaxWise Module Updates 

​The following video explains how to download and install module updates for TaxWise® from within the program itself.

  1. Open TaxWise and log in as the Admin user.
  2. Go to Communications > Get Module Updates.
  3. TaxWise will connect to the Electronic Filing Center and will download any module updates available to you.
  4. When you receive the message indicating the session was successful, click Close to exit.
  5. The Unprocessed Email window will appear, click OK.
  6. In the Module Update(s) window, click Yes to apply the updates.
  7. The updates will begin to be applied. 
  8. When the process is complete, a total number of updates applied will display at the bottom. Click OK to close.



View Module Versions

  1. Go to Help > View Authorization.
  2. The Federal update versions will be listed. The Individual, Bank, and Business tabs will contain versions for the state and bank updates.
  3. Click OK to close.
