How do I designate Electronic Withdrawal of California estimate payments for an Individual return using Worksheet View?
Beginning January 1, 2009, California mandates taxpayers to remit their estimate tax payments electronically if one or more of the CA estimated tax payments exceed $20,000.
Taxpayers can do this through the FTB website http://www.ftb.ca.gov/online/webpay/index.asp and use the WebPay feature or a credit card. They can also choose to use Electronic Funds Withdrawal (EFW) through their CA e-filed return.
To use EFW on a CA e-filed return, do the following:
- Go to the General > Basic Data worksheet.
- Select Section 4 - Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Withdrawal.
- In Lines 1 - 28, enter information, as needed.
- Go to the General > Electronic Filing worksheet.
- Select Section 5- State.
- Select Line 20 -Use electronic withdrawal for California estimate payments.
- Calculate the return.
Note: In Section 4 (see step 1 above), Lines 21 - 24 will override the standard dates of withdrawal, and Line 20 will apply the bank information only to the CA estimate payments.
