How do I install CCH® ProSystem fx® Planning?

Use Software Delivery Manager to download the latest installation files as soon as a product updates are available. After the download is complete, you will then run the installation file to install the update.

Downloading the Planning Installation Files Using Software Delivery Manager

  1. If you have not installed Software Delivery Manager you will need to do that first. 
  2. Once installed you will be able to download the installation file for Planning using Software Delivery Manager.

Installing CCH® ProSystem fx® Planning

The video below explains how to install CCH® ProSystem fx® Planning.

  1. In Software Delivery Manager, click View downloaded file in Windows for the version of Planning that you just downloaded.
    • A new Microsoft® Windows® Explorer window will open showing you the installation file for the product.
    • The file name listed will vary depending on what you downloaded.
  2. Double-click the file to start the installation process.
  3. From the ProSystem fx Planning install wizard welcome screen, click Next.
  4. Choose the type of install you need to complete and click Next.
    • Network Install. Installs a version of the planning software to a network drive so that multiple users can access the information and use shared defaults.
    • Standalone Install. Installs Planning on the local machine so that only this user will have access to. 
      • Note: Workstation Setups are used with a Network Install to link additional workstations to the network. These will be used only after the initial network install is comptpleted.
    • Workstation Setup. Used to connect multiple users to the existing network install.
  5. Select the destination folder:
    • Select the drive you would like to have planning installed on.
      • For a standalone install it will likely be the C drive (C:\).
      • For a network install, click Browse and locate the drive you need to install on.
        • Note: We recommend to have this install on the same drive as the tax install and at the root of the selected drive.
    • If you already have a version of Planning installed, select the drive and then AccuPlnr folder (For example, On a Network install – K:\AccuPlnr)
    • Once the drive is selected, click Next.
  6. Install the permission key using one of the following options:
    • Internet Download. This is the recommended method as well as most common. You will prompted to log in using your Single Sign On (SSO) user ID and password. These are the same credentials that you used to log into the Software Delivery Manager.
      • Once logged in, the system will pull the needed information.
    • Use previously installed permission key. If you are updating your Planning software to a new version or re-installing, you can select this option rather than having to log in.
    • Permission key disk drive path. If you downloaded the permission file or support has provided you with a copy of the permission; User the browse button to locate where the permission file is being stored.
      1. From the Browse window, select the FXPERM02 file.
      2. Click Open.
  7. If completing a Network Install, select one of the following and click Next:
    • Firm-Wide Default. Recommended. This option saves the defaults to the folder installed on the network. This enables users to have and share the same defaults.
      • For example, adding a generic state, modifying rates and setting starting defaults (number of cases, homestate and number of years).
    • Workstation-Specific Default. This option allows users to have there own defaults setup. These will be saved to the local workstation.
  8. By default the system will create a folder titled "ProSystem fx Planning." If needed you can change the folder name or add to a previously created folder. Click Next.
  9. Click Install to start the installation process.
    • Note: The install can take several minutes to complete. Since the install will need the machine to reboot, please make sure that any unsaved items are saved and closed prior to the next step.
  10. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
  11. Click Finish.
