1. Open Office Manager.
2. Click Configure Applications > Tax Preparation > Configure.
3. Select the appropriate office group (this feature is office group-specific) and click OK.
4. Select History/Backup Options and then click Setup.
5. Select the Maintain backup return files checkbox.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Close until you are returned to Office Manager.
8. Close Office Manager.

• A backup return file, or .BYT file, is created when the return is saved. "Save" only has to be pressed once to create the .B file, however once it is created it will remain one save behind the return file (.U file). If a .B file exists for a return, the return must be saved twice for the .B file to equal the .U file.
• The backup return file is located in ?:\Wfx32\Client\YYT (where ?:\ is the location of the CCH ProSystem fx Tax installation drive).
