How do I add a new CCH® ProSystem fx® Knowledge Coach title to CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement?

Automatic Download Method

The Knowledge Coach Title Install Utility is found on Workpaper Management and Terminal Server Client installations and allows for bulk as well as individual title installation and release of the titles. For information on using this utility, refer to the article below.

The utility does require access to the internet to be able to automatically download the titles for installation. 


Manual Download Method

The following steps outline how to manually download and install Knowledge Coach Titles through our support site:
  1. Sign into Engagement as a user who is licensed for Knowledge Coach.
    • Note: The user ADMIN is not able to be licensed for Knowledge Coach and should not be used for this process. 
  2. Click on Tools and select Knowledge Coach Titles...
    • The Knowledge Coach Titles screen displays.
  3. Click on View other Knowledge Coach titles available for download.
    • It will open a web browser, and go to https://support.cch.com/updates/KnowledgeCoach/ where the Knowledge Coach Titles are listed.
    • You can also open a web browser, and go to the site listed above.
      • You do not have to be on a machine that has Engagement installed to be able to download the titles. You can download them on any machine and then move the downloaded files to a machine that does have Engagement installed, and continue from step 6. 
  4. If not already logged into the Support site, click the Login link in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
  5. Locate the title from the list of titles on the webpage, and click Download File.
    • You may get a prompt to Open or Save. Choose Save and note the location where is was saved.
    • Some titles require specific base titles, version of Engagement, or updates to Engagement be installed prior to the title being able to be installed. Please refer to the Notes and Minimum Pfx Engagement version required columns for this information. 
  6. After downloading the title(s), go back to the Knowledge Coach Titles screen in Engagement.
    • On some occasions the content package file (.KCP) will download with the extension changed to .ZIP. If this occurs, please change the extension of the downloaded file to KCP using all capital letters.
  7. Select Add Title.
    • The Select Content Package screen displays.
  8. Browse to the location the title(s) was downloaded to in step 5, and select the title's KCP file.
    • Only one title can be selected at a time using this method. For batch or multiple title installation, you will need to use the Knowledge Coach Title Install Utility mentioned at the beginning of this article. 
  9. Click Open.
    • A message displays saying that the Title was successfully added.
  10. Repeat steps 7-9 for any additional titles.
  11. Log out of Engagement.
  12. Log back in to Engagement.
  13. A message will display that there is New Knowledge Coach content, click Yes to install.
  14. Have any other Knowledge Coach users repeat steps 11-13. 

To Manually Release a Knowledge Coach Title

  1. Sign in to Engagement as a user who is licensed for Knowledge Coach.
    • Note: The user ADMIN is not able to be licensed for Knowledge Coach and should not be used for this process. 
  2. Click on Tools and select Knowledge Coach Titles...
    • The Knowledge Coach Titles screen displays.
  3. Highlight any Title with a status of Installed.
    • Multiple Titles can be selected using Shift-click or CTRL-click.
  4. Select Release Title.
  5. A message displays asking, "Are you sure you want to release the selected titles to you staff?" Click Yes.
  6. Users will need to log out and back in to Engagement to get rights to the Released Title.
You may also wish to unrelease previous versions of the title.

How to Unrelease a Title

  1. Select a Knowledge Coach Title.
  2. Choose Unrelease Title.
    • The date will be removed from the Date released column and staff that do not have the staff group property right to insert unreleased titles will not be able to see or insert the unreleased titles into a binder.
      • You can determine this access in the CCH ProSystem fx Engagement Admin module by selecting a staff group and choosing File > Properties > Content “Insert Knowledge Coach workpapers from unreleased titles” option.
