  1. Go to Federal Interview Form EF-4 - Electronic Filing - Form 8948/Opt-Out and Additional Information.
    • In Box 50 - Election code (see help), use the lookup feature (double-click or click F4) and select the appropriate option.
  2. Calculate the return.

Additional Information

Depending on the Election code entered in Box 50, additional inputs might be required on the Federal Interview Form EF-4.

  • Election Code 2 - Preparer approved for waiver (Form 8944):
  1. In Box 51 - Waiver reference number, enter the reference number on the waiver received.
  2. In Box 52 - Approval letter date, enter the date the waiver was approved.
  3. Calculate the return.
  • Election Code 4 - Return was rejected by IRS:
  1. In Box 53 - Reject code, enter the rejection code.
