In CCH ProSystem fx Engagement or Workpaper Manager, Schedule M-3 journal entries are created by using Tax Journal Entries. The Consolidated trial balances do not have the capability to do Tax Journal Entries, so all Tax Journal Entries must be done in each subsidiary trial balance.

• When Tax Journal Entries are entered in individual trial balances, you must re-consolidate to allow changes to flow up to the Consolidated trial balance. 
• Re-consolidating trial balances breaks the existing Dynalink of the Consolidated Trial Balance. 
• To avoid breaking Dynalink the only available option in the Tax Software Interface, for a Consolidated Trial Balance with an M-3, is G/L Bridge.

Resolution

Either use G/L Bridge to export the data, or do not export the M3 information.

• To remove the M-3 option from the Consolidated TB, do the following:
  1. Become the current editor of the Consolidated Trial Balance.
  2. In the binder index, select Trial Balance > Account Groupings.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Clear the Sch. M-3 box next to the ProSystem fx Tax grouping list you are using.
  5. Click Close. 
  6. Click Close.
